We believe that our unique Spiral Laminar Flow technology will deliver great benefits to our customers – the surgeons, clinicians and care givers – and to the patients and their families who we ultimately aim to help.

Bill Allan – CEO

Bill is an internationally- experienced medical devices executive who has held a number of general management and leadership positions with global medical device companies, including Smith & Nephew, Angiodynamics, Orthovita and Stryker. He has a strong track record of building businesses and launching new products and has worked in Europe, Africa and North America.

Educated at the University of Edinburgh,University of Capetown and Insead Business School, Bill is a mentor at Cambridge University (Judge) Business School and a council member of ABHI (Association of British Healthcare Industries).

Nick Allen – VP of Operations

Nick joined VFT in January 2013 and brings a history of successful strategic operational development.  Having accrued over 25 years of manufacturing and operational experience in a wide range of high tech industries, he has spent the last 10 years developing teams in the Medical Devices Arena.   Nick has an impressive track record managing change and guiding organisations through periods of rapid growth.  His experience positions him well to lead VFT through its next phase of operational development.

Educated in the UK, Nick is an apprentice trained engineer who holds a masters degree from Bath University and a first class honours degree from the University of the West of England.  Both degrees are in the field of manufacturing and operational development.

Randall Black – VP of Sales – Vascular Flow Technologies Inc

Randall has over 25 years of International and North American tenure in Cardiovascular device marketing and sales, including Boston Scientific, Edwards Life Sciences, Cyberonics, and Atrium Medical. He has significant experience building sales forces in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America, and brings a solid track record of leading businesses to sustained profitability and growth.

Randall has a degree in Mathematics and Economics from Kalamazoo College and completed Executive Seminar Series courses in Management at Harvard University. He is also an active Board Member of several Scholarship Funds.

He and his wife, Angie, live in Dublin, California, where he enjoys  adventure sports and exploring the wilds of NorCal.

Peter Fox – Senior Director of Clinical Marketing

Peter joined Vascular Flow Technologies after more than twenty five years of international marketing of medical devices.  For the past decade, Peter has been at the forefront of clinical marketing, sales training and physician education in the Vascular Devices market with Bard IMPRA and Bard Peripheral Vascular.  He was responsible for the strategic product development and launch of two next generation vascular surgery grafts.  He has specialised in hemodynamic flow studies for the development of new products for the past eight years, working with universities and advanced design centers in the USA and Europe.

Peter has a degree in General Science and Business Studies from Napier University in Edinburgh, his home town.  He has lived in Phoenix for the past 16 years. Peter and his wife Merilee, live next to South Mountain where they enjoy hiking and mountain biking.

Kate Full – Financial Controller

Kate joined Vascular Flow Technologies from Braveheart Ventures where she was responsible for the evaluation and development of investment opportunities, focusing on financial diligence. A Chartered Certified Accountant, she trained with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, qualifying in 2001 and continued in professional practice until joining Braveheart in 2004. Prior to embarking on her professional training Kate held a number of different accounting roles in a variety of industries including manufacturing, wholesale and leisure.

Larry Hayes – President – Vascular Flow Technologies Inc

Larry has more than 18 years of successful international leadership experience in mature and early stage medical companies engaged in the commercialization and support of complex medical device technologies. He has held senior level sales and marketing positions at Banyan Biomarkers, W.L. Gore & Associates, Endologix and ACS Healthcare. Larry’s tenure at Gore included senior sales & business development leadership roles of increasing responsibility in Richmond VA, Flagstaff AZ and as the European Peripheral Vascular Sales Leader in Munich Germany. He has led sales executive teams in over 20 countries and launched multiple medical devices in the US, Europe and South America. Larry has provided consulting services to more than 30 international healthcare companies. He is a member of the expert council with the Gerson Lehrman Group and is an advisor with Guidepoint Global.

Larry received his undergraduate degree in English from Catawba College, an advanced degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and earned an Advanced Certificate of Professional Development & International Competitive Business Strategies from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a former professional soccer player and is married with two children.

Graeme Houston – Medical Director

Dr Houston is a consultant Vascular Radiologist with an interest in endo-vascular therapies, and non-invasive vascular imaging using MRI and Ultrasound. His medical training at St. Thomas’s Hospital in London followed first class honours science degrees in physics and pathology at Cambridge University. His endo-vascular training was undertaken initially in Glasgow and further developed as Fellow in University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

He is responsible for intellectual property, and as Medical Director is responsible for the clinical scientific research in the Spiral Laminar Flow™ field and stent technology.

Brian Howlett – Non-executive Chairman

Brian Howlett joined the board as non-Executive Chairman in December 2010. He brings to the company a wealth of experience in MedTech. Most recently, he was CEO of Lombard Medical Technologies plc, an AIM-quoted company specialising in stents for abdominal aortic aneurysm. Prior to joining Lombard, Brian was General Manager of Boston Scientific Limited when the company successfully launched a number of new medical devices into the UK market which drove significant sales and profit growth. Prior to this, Brian spent 12 years as Managing Director of Cobe Laboratories Limited. In addition to this experience in medical devices, Brian spent almost 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, gaining strong sales and marketing experience through a number of senior management positions within Fisons plc.

Karin Lesiak – Director of Marketing

Karin Lesiak, appointed as a consultant for VFT in January 2012, is acting as our interim Marketing Director. Karin has more than 18 years experience in vascular medical devices. She has held international senior management positions in companies including Boston Scientific and Maquet having previously worked with Schneider and Bard Impra. Karin brings experience of International Marketing Management, Strategic Business Development and National Sales management to Vascular Flow Technologies. She runs her own consultancy business. Her last position was Senior Marketing Manager EMEA with Maquet Cardiovascular.

Edwin Lindsay – VP of Quality & Regulatory

Edwin is the Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs for Vascular Flow Technologies. Edwin is responsible for the quality and regulatory function for the company’s operations.

From 1996 to the present his extensive quality, validation and regulatory experience has encompassed roles at Smith & Nephew Ltd, Ethicon Ltd, AorTech Europe Ltd, MI Services (Consultancy),Omega Critical Care Ltd and Compliance Solutions (Life Sciences) Ltd. These roles involved the preparation of new and amended European (CE Marking) and US FDA Regulatory (510K, PMA, IDE) submissions for class 1,2 and 3 medical devices, development and implementation of quality systems to ISO 9001, ISO 13485, GMP/GLP and the US FDA Quality system regulations.

As a consultant his clients included Scottish and Northern Ireland National Blood Transfusion Service’s, Cambrex, Ventana Medical, Integra Life Sciences, American Red Cross, Novartis, Optos, and Oracle.

Richard Nelson – Director of Clinical & Development Operations

Richard Nelson joined Vascular Flow Technologies in 2008 as Director of Development Operations. Previously he held clinical research and sales posts in the orthopaedic industry with Zimmer and Corin. He has a B.Eng in Mechanical engineering and a M.Sc in bioengineering from Strathclyde University, Glasgow.

Rodney Parker – US Regional Sales Manager, South East

Rodney has more than 40 years experience in the medical field beginning in 1968. This experience includes Clinical laboratory management, Emergency room services, X-Ray and medical imaging, as well as, extensive vascular and cardiovascular sales and product development experience.

Rodney’s clinical experience includes 3 ½ years as assistant medical examiner in Muscogee County (Columbus) Georgia as well as director of the medical examiners laboratory.

At the commercial level Rodney spent 10 years as a Territory Manager for the laboratory division of Owens-Illinois, Kimble as well as 15 years with Meadox-Boston Scientific as a Distributor Manager and has Sales and Customer Development Manager. Rodney has also worked as a Customer Development Manager and Director of Customer Development and Training for Vasca Inc. This included the preapproval process and market launch of the Vasca Life Site Hemodialysis Access Valve.

More recently Rodney was an Area Manager for Vascular Architects and an Imaging Specialist for a surgical products distributor for Siemens Medical.

Larry Parker – US Regional Sales Director, Eastern Division

Larry joined VFT Inc in October 2012.  He has a wealth of experience having worked in various Sales Management positions with leading medical device companies including Johnson and Johnson, Boston Scientific, Cyberonics and  most recently with St. Jude Medical Neuromodulation in Southeast U.S. as a Regional Sales Director.

Larry has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts with a minor in Art and Design from Auburn University, Alabama and has completed multiple Harvard ManageMentor topic training programs.

Larry and his wife Kathie live in Inlet Beach FL.  Larry’s hobbies include tennis, biking, as well as photography.

Angela Paterson – QA/RA Manager

Angela joined VFT in April 2013 having worked in Quality Assurance in a vascular graft manufacturing environment for the last 14 years. Prior to this Angela spent three years in laboratories / Biotech.   She has extensive experience of working with regulatory agencies e.g. US FDA, Japanese PMDA.

Angela has a Bsc in Applied Biosciences from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Julian Relf – VP of International Sales

Julian joined VFT as Vice President International Sales in January 2013 bringing over 20 years’ experience within the Medical Technology sector. Responsible for developing the direct sales and distribution-based sales organisation in the ROW region he brings a dedication to achieving growth and revenue targets and a track record of proven strategic planning and management.

He has held UK and European Sales, Marketing and Sales Leadership positions with J+J Cordis, Boston Scientific, Guidant, NMT and most recently as Sales Director UK and Ireland for Haemonetics.

Rhonda Russell – Assistant Accountant

Rhonda joined Vascular Flow Technologies in April 2013 from the University of St Andrews where she was part of the tax, treasury and financial reporting team. A part qualified accountant, Rhonda has held a variety of different accounting roles across a variety of sectors. She now supports the Financial Controller with the company’s finance function.

Laurence Ryan – VP of Marketing

With over 20 years experience in international marketing and business development in the medical device industry, Laurence is responsible for Vascular Flow’s strategic and operational marketing.

Prior to joining VFT, Laurence held a number of senior roles with global medical device companies including Allergan, B.Braun and Stryker along with innovative, earlier stage companies such as AeroSurgical and Aerogen.

Laurence holds a B.Sc. in Genetics from Liverpool University and an MBA in Marketing from City University Business School, London.

Caroline Thoms – Administration Manager

Caroline joined the company in May 2011 as the new Administration Manager. She comes with a wealth of administrative experience having worked in the Private, Public and Charity sectors. She supports the team in all aspects of sales and marketing including conference organisation and logistics, distributor liaison and website content.
